Pastor Rick & Mary Koch of CCC
Pastor Richard ‘Rick’ Koch served 25 years as an Army Chaplain advancing to
State Command Chaplain while also serving in church ministry. He retired in May
2021 from the Alaskan National Guard. After retirement he stated; “It didn’t take
long for God to nudge me back in the direction of church ministry again. I am
looking for a place in which there is a mutual desire to explore the depths of
God’s love for each of us and for our neighbors; and where we will support each
other in seeking and following God’s call to each of us as disciples.”
This is what attracted him to Community Congregational Church in Kewaunee.
Pastor Rick attended the First Congregational Church in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin
and was active in youth fellowship. It was there that he began to feel God
tugging at his heart. His ordination was at his home church on October 13, 1985.
He graduated with his Master of Divinity Degree from Garrett-Evangelical
Theological Seminary in May 1986. He completed the Congregational
History/Polity course and has served 5 Congregational Churches and one
Presbyterian Church while serving as a Chaplain in the Alaskan National Guard.
His wife, Mary, is a retired healthcare chaplain and minister. They married while
both were in seminary. She is happy in retirement and loves being a part of the
Community Congregational Church family to which God called Rick. They have 4
adult children, 2 with spouses, and 6 grandchildren.
